A brief history of the theater:
Founded in the summer of 2012, the theater has graduated several hundred Dayton area residents through all three levels of its improv classes. It grew to become the local home for a creative community that wanted to create laughter through an art form that hadn’t yet established a foothold in the area.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, the theater closed its doors in March of 2020, unsure what the future held. Thankfully, in the summer of 2021, ten veteran performers and instructors pulled together to take over the space and return the theater to a beloved entertainment option for the southwest Ohio region.
Dayton’s Black Box Improv theater provides four nights of improv comedy in an inclusive environment and classes for anyone looking to strengthen their social and communication skills or interested in becoming one of our stage performers.
